he'd carried from Serendipity between his fingers as he'd made good time on the less traveled path. He'd found that shortcut during a morning run
not long after moving here. It wasn't well known, but it was faster than the beach route.

<Shep rubbed a hand briskly over his face, hoping the action would wake him some more, as he walked out of the SICU. Last night had been busy, and
he'd barely had time for more than a quick nap or two. Stifling a yawn, as he turned a corner, on his way to the resident's locker room for morning
rounds, Shep spotted Michael on his phone, with his back to Shep.

He heard the tail end of the conversation, as Mike snapped his phone closed--a big grin on his face. Shep's...

hadn't done much to clear out the cobwebs from the corners of his mind. In fact the longer he was awake, the more questions had begun to lead to doubts and
suspicions. Drew's confusing tale of a marriage between Scarlett and Nick Bailey was foremost in Shep's mind.

How do you go from not being married--or even...

Something about the Jamison's house had always disturbed him as a teenager. He didn't usually feel intimidated about entering another's house, it was quite an important component of his job after all, but this house was different. The last rays of light were already dying on the dining room table, as the multitude of papers he had splayed across the surface were slowly entering darkness. Running a hand through his hair as he leaned forward over the table, he let out a soft sigh. The evidence records and court transcripts still lay below him, staring back against him as they had for to many previous hours than he...
